‘Burg lurker faces a slew of charges

A Chatham man faces several charges following an early morning report of a suspicious man walking between houses in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police received a call about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning of a man in the Highbury Crescent area in Wallaceburg slinking around between homes. Police took down his description and confronted a man who matched it near Larkwood Avenue.

Police say officers attempted to stop the man, but he fled on foot. Following a short chase, police made their arrest, although report the man continued to try to escape.

Upon searching the suspect, police say they discovered he had a black replica handgun and a quantity of marijuana on him. It turns out he has four firearm prohibition orders against him.

A 22-year-old Chatham man faces charges of trespassing at night, resisting arrest, drug possession and four counts of possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
