
Weapon woes
A Wallaceburg man faces charges after someone feared they were threatened by a person with a weapon recently.
On Sunday evening, police were called over an incident on King Street in Wallaceburg.
The altercation began when one man confronted another outside his residence. During that confrontation, the accused reportedly threatened the victim’s life while reaching into a backpack for what appeared to be a firearm, police say.
The victim then told the accused he would call the police, prompting the accused to flee the scene westbound on Bruce Street.
Police established a containment area and searched for the suspect but were initially unsuccessful. A warrant for his arrest was sought.
Early Tuesday morning, police arrested a 33-year-old Wallaceburg man on Murray Street in Wallaceburg. He is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
More threats
A Chatham woman faces charges after an altercation on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham on Monday evening.
The woman attended the location regarding a property dispute. During the encounter, she forcibly entered the residence and, when confronted by the occupants, threatened to return with a baseball bat, police say.
Officers attended and made the arrest.
A 32-year-old Chatham woman is charged with unlawfully entering a dwelling and uttering threats.
Assault
A local woman faces assault charges following what police say was a case of domestic disturbance Monday evening.
Police got the call shortly before 8:30 p.m. to a north-end Chatham residence where a man and woman had argued to the point the matter got physical. Police say the accused called police in the wake of the altercation.
A 58-year-old Chatham woman is charged with assault.
