Footing the charge

 

Two Chatham-Kent men faces charges after a theft from a convenience store in Chatham Monday evening.

Chatham-Kent police got the call shortly after 8:15 p.m. from a convenience store on Grand Avenue West. Police say two men were spotted leaving the store without paying for items in their possession.

Six minutes later, officers spotted the suspects. One bolted.

Following a brief foot chase, police caught and arrested that man.

During the arrest, a search led to the discovery of a weapon in the suspect’s possession, police say.

The man, 19, is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, escape and being at large without excuse, obstructing police and failing to comply with a probation order.

The other man, 28, is charged with possession of stolen property.
