A woman faces charges after someone reported a person was checking doors on Heather Drive in Chatham.
Police arrived, found the suspect and found a laptop in her possession. Officers say the laptop was purloined from a nearby shed.
The woman is charged with break and enter.
Meat thief meets police
A man faces charges after police say he twice tried to make off with mead from a local grocery store on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police would not say if it was Food Basics, Real Canadian Superstore, Walmart or anywhere in between, given their policy to not name locations of crimes.
Regardless, staff at one of these stores contacted police to say that, for the second time the same day, a man had attempted to steal meat from the store.
The man dropped the meat when confronted and fled in a vehicle, police say, but officers pulled him over.
A 37-year-old man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property, as well as failing to comply with his release order.
Suspicious person spotted on Thames Street

Police were called recently to Thames Street over a report of a suspicious person.
Officers arrived and chatted with a man. Police say he provided a false name when speaking with the officers.
It was found that the man had two outstanding warrants. The man was placed under arrest and resisted the officers in an attempt to leave, police say.
A 44-year-old Chatham man is charged with obstruct police and resist. The man was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Impaired charges
A Charing Cross man faces impaired charges following an incident on Indian Creek Road in Chatham.
Police received a called from a concerned citizen about 12:30 a.m. Nov. 23, reporting hearing a loud bang and believing someone hit a tree with their vehicle.
Officer responded and found a pickup truck in a treed area near the intersection of Lacroix and Indian Creed Road West. The driver was attempting to back out and leave.
Instead, he wound up in the back of a police cruiser.
A 43-year-old Charing Cross man was found to be three times the legal the limit.
