Local library officials are looking for literary pals.
The Chatham-Kent Public Library’s Reading Buddies program is in need of volunteers to work with young children to help in their literacy progress.
Volunteers, aged 16 and older, are needed in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
Buddies offer one-on-one assistance to children in Grade 1 through Grade 6 who would like to practice reading. They spend 30 minutes with each child encouraging and motivating them to read using literacy-based games, activities and high-interest readers.
