Recorded threats

A man faces charges after someone allegedly threatened a woman via a cellphone recently.

Chatham-Kent police began investigating on Wednesday over a report of threats.

Officers learned a man and woman were arguing over a texting app, and that resulted in the man leaving several voicemail messages, police say. Some of those messages indicated he would harm the woman and another person.

The next morning, officers located the man and arrested him. He’s charged with four counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm and one count of uttering threats to destroy or cause damage to property.

Fleet of foot, but handcuffed regardless

A safety check Thursday morning ultimately led to an arrest in Chatham.

Police say officers were dispatched for the check to Park Avenue West. They arrived on scene and a man fled the residence. After a short foot chase, police took the man into custody.

It turns out he was wanted on several warrants held by Sarnia Police and Woodstock Police related to intimate partner violence.

A 28-year-old Ontario man was arrested and released to the Sarnia Police Service.
