Alleged knife-wielding cyclist arrested

A local man faces charges after someone reported a man on a bike had threatened someone while brandishing a knife.

The altercation took place about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday on Partridge Crescent in Chatham.

Officers were advised a man riding a bicycle was involved in an altercation with a pedestrian, where he was yelling and brandishing the knife.

Officers located the man. A search revealed he was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and opioids.

A 53-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with assault with a weapon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Get your butt to court

A man arrested 10 months ago wound up getting arrested again Tuesday afternoon.

Police say it was because he never showed up for his Nov. 6, 2023 court date for being unlawfully in a dwelling.

So, about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, police spotted the 55-year-old Blenheim man on St. Clair Street in Chatham and slapped on the cuffs. Again.

Tilbury man charged with impaired

A single-vehicle collision Monday afternoon in Leamington has resulted in impaired charges against a Tilbury man.

Police say the crash took place about 1:15 p.m. on Milo Road.

A Tilbury man, 65, is charged with impaired driving.
