A Chatham-Kent man faces a slew of charges, and police started looking for him after someone gas and dashed in Tilbury on Wednesday.
Police got the call shortly before 2:30 p.m. for a theft of gas investigation on Mill Street in Tilbury. The investigating officer got a description of the suspect and the vehicle, and shared the info with other officers, police say.
At 10 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle on King Street East in Chatham. They pulled the vehicle over on Hyslop Street, but the driver fled on foot, police say. However, on a short distance later, the man was arrested.
Further investigation revealed the man was bound by driving prohibitions, was in violation of various sections of Highway Traffic Act and wanted for failing to attend court.
So, a 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man faces charges of failing to comply with an undertaking, mischief, theft, possession of stolen property, driving under suspension, no insurance, no valid permit, two counts of failing to attend court, three counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, and five counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
