Scooter hater arrested

A local man has to answer to assault charges after someone chucked a piece of wood at a youth riding a scooter Wednesday night.

Chatham-Kent police got the call shortly before 9 p.m. They arrived at a King Street East parking lot and got the details.

Officers learned a youth was riding a scooter through a parking lot, when a man began to yell at them. The man picked up a discarded piece of wood and threw it at the youth, resulting in minor physical injury, police say.

The man was located a short distance away. Officers also learned he was bound by release conditions, prohibiting him from being outside during that time and possessing any weapons.

A 50-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.  He has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Assault

A Chatham man faces charges after someone hit a woman Wednesday morning.

Chatham-Kent police were called to a St. Clair Street address for a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers located a woman with visible physical injuries. Officers learned a man and woman were arguing when the man assaulted the woman.

A 40-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault.

Man turns himself in

A Blenheim man turned himself in Wednesday afternoon to face assault charges.

The man was wanted in relation to a March 17 assault investigation on Talbot Street West in Blenheim.

A 56-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and released with a future court date. He has been charged with assault.

Skipped court date

A Wallaceburg man got a free trip to Chatham Wednesday morning after police spotted him on Lawrence Avenue about 9:45 a.m.

You see, police say the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to probation violations.

A 58-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing charges of failing to attend court and failing to comply with a probation order.

Theft charges

Police arrested a Tilbury man Wednesday morning to answer to charges in connection with a shoplifting investigation from June 10.

At 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, police located the man on Young Street in Tilbury.

A 37-year-old Tilbury man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
