An alert Good Samaritan is credited in helping reunite a missing person with their family over the weekend.
According to the OPP, the person stopped to help an individual that had pulled over in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near the Communication Road exit on Saturday afternoon.
After speaking to the driver, the person figured the driver needed more assistance than they could provide, so they contacted police.
Investigating officers determined that a family member of the 82-year-old from Waubaushene had contacted the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment less than one hour earlier to report the individual as missing.
The missing individual was assessed and transported to a local hospital by EMS as a precaution.
Police say that as a direct result of the assistance and subsequent phone call by the Good Samaritan, the missing individual was located, and the family notified of their loved one’s whereabouts.
