Man threatens to toss people into the Thames
How do you spend a sunny afternoon? Well, for at least one person, it was apparently to yell at passers-by and threaten to chuck them into the Thames River.
Chatham-Kent police got the call Wednesday afternoon to head just outside police headquarters, to the Third Street Bridge, after receiving reports from concerned citizens. The complainants said a drunken individual was in the area chirping at people walking by, and threatening to throw them into the river.
Officers located the man and determined he was blitzed and unable to care for himself. They also learned he was not from Chatham-Kent and had no place to go nearby.
Police arrested the man and held him until he sobered up.
Warrant arrests
An officer on patrol Wednesday evening in Wallaceburg spotted a familiar face on Elgin Street.
As a result, a 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
A couple of hours later, the same situation occurred on Wellington Street in Chatham where an officer spotted another person known to police who was wanted on a warrant.
A 53-year-old Chatham man wound up arrested.
