Intimate partner violence charges

On Monday, police began a bail violation investigation after receiving information the man was not abiding by conditions in a release order.

Officers learned the man was prohibited from communicating with the woman but had left a threatening voicemail for her and then followed up with another call to someone associated with her, police say. 

On Tuesday afternoon, police located the 36-year-old Chatham man on McFarlane Avenue in Chatham and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with uttering threats and failing to comply with a release order. 

Man walks into court, arrested

A local man walked into the courthouse Tuesday morning and was promptly arrested.

An officer confirmed the man was wanted on two outstanding warrants from theft investigations in Chatham.

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing the following charges: mischief, five counts of theft and five counts of possession of stolen property.

Skipped court dates 

In September 2023 while on general patrol, an officer was alerted by the Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) of a stolen license plate and conducted a traffic stop. 

The officer discovered the vehicle and the license plate had been reported stolen. 

The driver was arrested and provided with a future court date. 

When she failed to make the scheduled court appearance a bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

Tuesday morning, police located the 30-year-old Wallaceburg woman on Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg and arrested her. 

She is currently facing the following charges: possession of stolen property. 

Police located a man on Wellington Street in Chatham Tuesday afternoon. The officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a December 2023 assault investigation.

A 23-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He faces the following charges:  failing to attend court, mischief, assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, three counts of theft, and three counts of possession of stolen property.
