The Chatham-Kent Dickens Fellowship is hosting an original play as part of the annual birthday celebrations Feb. 6.

The play, “Old Cheeseman,” is based on Charles Dickens’ “the Schoolboy’s Story,” and is presented by London’s Theatre Nemesis.

“Old Cheeseman” is an historic look at an issue that remains topical today, bullying. Cheeseman is an impoverished student at a private school who is constantly ridiculed and mistreated.

The gala birthday celebration takes place at Club Lentina’s starting with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by a classic Victorian-style dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $45 each and available at cktickets.com, at the Community Futures of Chatham-Kent office in Blenheim or by calling 519-354-9786.
