Man arrested for smashing window 

A local man faces charges after someone tossed a rock through the window at the library in Chatham on Sunday.

Police got the call about 1:35 p.m. from the Chatham-Kent Public Library on queen Street.

Officers learned a man threw a rock through a window. The man was located and believed to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with mischief.

Officers kicked, man charged

A man faces two counts of assaulting police following a violent weekend outburst.

Police got the call from an address on Lorne Avenue in Chatham. One of the men involved in the disturbance was heavily intoxicated and would not leave the area, police say.

Police eventually arrested the man under the Liquor Licence Control Act. During the arrest, the man grabbed and kicked two separate officers, police say.

The man was kept in custody until sober and to be released with a future court date for two counts of Assault Police.

Threats, child porn charges

A teenager faces charges, including the distribution of child pornography.

Police say the 15 year old was involved in a recent break up in a relationship.

The youth made threats to multiple family members, police say and sent inappropriate content to several people.

The actions resulted in the youth being charged with two counts of uttering threats and one of distribution of child pornography.

Compliance problem

At 6:11 p.m., police responded to Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg for a disturbance. A man and woman were engaged in a heated argument, police say.

The officer arrived in the area and located the couple. The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 60-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was held pending a bail hearing.

The woman is currently facing the following charges: break and enter, possession of stolen property, mischief, failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to comply with undertaking.

Warrant arrest

A missed court date in August caught up to a Chatham man on the weekend.

Police say the man missed his Aug. 28 court date in relation with a late-July investigation on Fifth Street.

However, on Sunday evening, about 8:15 p.m., police located the man on Fifth Street and arrested him.

A 54-year-old Chatham man was released with a new court date of Feb. 26. He faces two counts of uttering threats.

Missed court date

At 9:08 p.m. Sunday evening, an officer on general patrol located a man on Wellington Street West in Chatham.

The officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was released with a new court date of Feb. 26. He faces the following charges: mischief, aggravated assault and failing to comply with an appearance notice.
