Bad crash on Centre Side Road

One driver is in a London hospital with serious injuries following a Monday evening accident on Centre Side Road south of Tupperville.

Chatham-Kent police say the crash occurred about 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar Hedge Line.

A woman driving westbound on Cedar Hedge Line was struck by a man driving a pick-up truck southbound on Centre Side Road, police say.

The 18-year-old Chatham Township woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and sustained minor physical injuries.

The 22-year-old Chatham Township man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with serious injuries and later transferred to Victoria Hospital in London.

Threats lead to charges

A neighbourhood dispute led to charges against a Wallaceburg man Monday evening.

At approximately 7:30p.m., police received a call of a male party threatening to assault and cause bodily harm to his neighbour.

Police were advised the accused was a neighbour of the complainant and was unprovoked when he threatened to hurt and cause bodily harm to the party numerous times.

Following police investigation, an 18-year-old Wallaceburg male was arrested with six counts of Utter Threats.

Impaired charges

Slumping over the steering wheel ultimately led to a man’s arrest Monday afternoon.

At approximately 5:25 p.m., police responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the city of Chatham.

Police learned there a man was slumped over the steering wheel of a motor vehicle and appeared to be in and out of consciousness.

Upon arrival, officers observed the man who appeared to be under the influence.

The man was arrested for impaired.

Following the accused’s arrest, police located various drug paraphernalia on him.

The man was transported to police headquarters where a Qualified Breath Technician and a Drug Recognition Expert conducted a series of tests and analysis.

Novice driver faces multiple charges

Alert citizens called the police Monday night, reporting a suspected impaired driver.

At approximately 9 p.m., police responded to the call that reported a man driving out of the parking lot of an establishment on Charing Cross Road near Seventh Line. The caller believed him to be intoxicated.

Police arrived in the area and observed the vehicle driving, and subsequently initiated a traffic stop.

After registering a “fail” on the police screening device, the male was taken into custody and transported to headquarters for breath tests, police say.

A 24-year-old Chatham man is charged with Operation While Impaired – 80 plus, driving while Under Suspension and Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero.
