Traffic stop leads to arrest

A Chatham man faces charges following a traffic stop Friday.

Chatham-Kent police say an officer ran the plates on the Audi, and learned the plates were listed as stolen.

He pulled the vehicle over and arrested the driver.

A 30-year-old Chatham man is charged for possession of stolen property and for driving while prohibited. 

His vehicle was impounded for 45 days and he was released with a future court date.

Warrant arrest 

As police were investigating one incident Friday, they came across a man who they realized had an outstanding warrant for breaching his probation order. 

A 28-year-old man was arrested and released with a future court date.

They didn’t believe him

A Tilbury man faces charges after police say he lied to them.

According to police, a 51-year-old Tilbury man contacted police to advise his pickup truck had been stolen. This vehicle had been involved in a fail to remain collision in Tilbury. 

Through investigation it was determined the man had been lying about the stolen vehicle and it is alleged he fabricated the stolen vehicle complaint to avoid arrest. 

Police arrested the man for public mischief, failing to remain, and careless driving.
