Arson arrest
A local man faces arson charges after Chatham-Kent police say he turned himself in Wednesday afternoon.
On New Year’s Day, emergency crews responded to a structure fire on Wall Street in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police formed grounds to arrest the man for setting the fire.
And on Wednesday at 4 p.m., police say the man walked into police headquarters in Chatham and turned himself in.
A 60-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with arson. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
Warrant arrest
Walpole Island police handed over a man to their Chatham-Kent counterparts Wednesday following an arrest.
At 3:39 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service was advised by the Walpole Island Police Service they had arrested the man on a warrant held by CKPS.
CKPS attended and arrested the man.
A 25-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with failing to attend court. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
Probation breach
After being convicted of criminal harassment, a man entered a probation order with a condition not to communicate or be within 200 metres of a woman.
However, police say on Wednesday at about 6:15 p.m., the man attended the woman’s residence and failed to leave when directed.
A 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with criminal harassment and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was released with a future court date.
Skipping out on court
At 5:45 a.m., police responded to a business on Murray Street in Wallaceburg for suspicious activity.
Once on scene, police learned a man was wanted for failing to attend court in 2022, and he was arrested.
A 48-year-old Wallaceburg man was released with a future court date.
