Why are you running?

I’m running for council because our communities and neighbourhoods continue to need a voice at council that recognizes their individual needs, desires and identities. I also want to see a number of issues that were started over the last term completed.

What are the key issues?

Imagine CK is clearly the issue that’s on the top of everybody’s mind, Talbot Trail closure, Erie Shore Drive continue to be difficult situations, as does Wheatley. There’s also the larger issue of the broader economy, inflation and a potential recession. We need to make sure we’re prepared for a slowdown.

What do you hope to achieve if elected?

I’ve learned that as a municipal representative, it’s not about what I want to achieve, it’s about what the community wants, and the cards we’re dealt. I’m proud of our accomplishments over the last four years, but nobody could have foreseen what transpired. Ultimately I want to represent Ward 2 to the best of my abilities.

What skills and experience do you bring?

Being a municipal councillor requires you to look at all sides of an issue, and a good councillor can’t be a single-issue candidate. Over the last eight years, I’ve been chair and vice-chair of the LTVCA, chair of Ridge Landfill Liaison committee, sat on the PUC and the trails committee. I’ve seen first hand the impacts that decisions can make, altering lives and families in the process.
