Train slams into vehicle
Two people were taken to hospital Saturday after a train slammed into a vehicle in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police say the accident took place about 3:45 p.m. on Colborne Street in Chatham.
Emergency crews responded. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
The area was cleared after several hours, police say.
Theft, obstruction charges
A woman was arrested for theft at a local business on St. Clair Street Chatham. During the investigation the woman provided a false name.
The woman was found to have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.
She was transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and charged with theft under and obstructing a police officer.
Boozed up, and arrested
Police got the call Saturday for an intoxicated man at an apartment complex in the area of Little Street in Wheatley.
The man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.
It was also found the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and was to be released when sober with a future court date.
Break-ins
Comic book thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of comics, police say, after someone smashed the window of an Arnold Street building in Wallaceburg.
Police got the call about 7 a.m. Friday. Officers arrived and found a front glass window was broken.

Someone got into an unlocked garage on Birchwood Street in Chatham sometime overnight Thursday to Friday.
Police were called about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning. Officers learned sometime overnight, unknown suspect(s) entered and stole several items.

On Friday, police were called to an address in the area of Regal Drive in Chatham.
Police learned that between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) entered a residence through an unlocked window and stole thousands of dollars worth of items.
