Family feud

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a woman assaulted a family member while also damaging property inside and outside the home.

As the woman was placed under arrest, she refused to co-operate with the officer and resisted arrest, police say.

A 38-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was taken into custody and charged with assault, two counts of mischief and resisting arrest. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Collision leads to charges

Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a single motor collision on Huffs Side Road near Longwoods Road in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was prohibited from driving and he was arrested.

The officer also believed that the man was driving while under the influence. A roadside breath test demand was issued and the man refused to provide a sample.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 22-year-old Windsor man is charged with driving and impaired-related offences, along with drug possession.

Compliance concern

In early July, a man was released from custody with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman and that he was to notify police of any change in address.

But on Dec. 31, police received information that the man had been sending the woman text messages.

Through investigation, police further learned that the man was no longer residing at the last known address on file.

Last night, a 55-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Failing to comply

In late November, a man was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman.

But on Dec. 22, police received information that the man was sending messages via Facebook Messenger to a family member in an attempt to communicate with the woman.

Yesterday afternoon, a 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
