Cyclist charged after collision
Here’s something you don’t see every day, a bicyclist is facing charges following a collision.
Around 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a collision involving a car and cyclist on St. Clair Street between Maryknoll Road and Regency Drive in Chatham.
Total damage was estimated at $5,000.
The cyclist, a 49-year-old Chatham man, sustained minor injuries and was charged with start from stopped position, not in safety.
He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with his probation order.
He was released pending a future court date.
Cheque out this fraud
A Dresden man has a lot to answer for after cheques were taken from two different cars recently, and then used to pull money from the owners’ accounts.
Chatham-Kent police say someone entered two vehicles in Chatham last month and cheques were stolen.
Five cheques were used at local banks and money was withdrawn from the owners’ accounts.
With the assistance of video surveillance, police identified the man responsible.
Yesterday afternoon, a 38-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with being in possession of stolen property and fraud related offences. He was released pending a future court date.
Church sign damaged
Sometime over the weekend, someone damaged a sign at the Christ Anglican Church on Wellington Street West.
Damage has been estimated at $500.

Tires slashed in Dresden
Sometime over the weekend, someone slashed four tires on various utility vehicles parked on Queen Street in Dresden.
Damage has been estimated at $600.
