Pregnant woman assaulted

Yesterday morning, Chatham-Kent police received information about a domestic disturbance.

Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal argument, the man assaulted his pregnant girlfriend.

When she left the situation, the man sent her 12 unwanted text messages and called her 32 times.

A 20-year-old Florence man has been arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats and criminal harassment. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Threats against a grandfather

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal argument, the man became aggressive and threatened his grandfather.

A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Tobacco stolen from smoke barn

Sometime between Sunday at 10:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. this morning, someone entered a smoke barn on Erieau Road and stole $2,000 worth of black tobacco.

Failing to comply

In May of 2020, a woman was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was not to communicate with a specific Blenheim man.

Last night, police responded to a disturbance at the man’s residence and the woman was found in the home.

A 26-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions. She was released pending a future court date.
