Care to have a say on some municipal spending?

Individuals are being sought to fill vacant volunteer positions on the municipality’s Together CK Grant Program Review Committee.

The committee, which includes five municipal staff members and a total of eight community volunteers, is responsible for reviewing grant applications and providing recommendations to council on distribution of municipal grant funding.

Council allocates funds each year to assist groups to complete projects or hold events intended to benefit the community. Funds are distributed through the Together CK Grant Program – a competitive, application-based funding program that provides funds based on a variety of factors and overall project cost.

Volunteers are required to apply for a position on the committee. The committee’s terms of reference can be found here and the application form can be found here.

Successful applicants will hold the position for the term of council. Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant’s experience in a number of areas including volunteer work and committee experience.

Volunteers will need to be available for a minimum of 12 hours in the new year to come to meetings to review grant applications.

Amy Wilcox, Chatham-Kent manager of corporate initiatives, said the committee provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the community.

“We’re looking for an individual with a broad base of experience since the committee will be dealing with applications for funding from a wide variety of areas,” she said in a media release.
