Ontario has received approval from the federal government to move forward with long-awaited road infrastructure projects in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, including replacement of a culvert on Tecumseh Road on Walpole Island.

“I’m excited to finally receive federal government approval on these projects Ontario nominated last summer,” MPP Monte McNaughton said in a media release. “Investments in road infrastructure, especially in small towns, are crucial for the safe and timely movement of people and goods. This announcement is good news for southwestern Ontario.”

While the announcement includes more than $1 million of provincial funding, the majority of that funding will go towards the rehabilitation of sections of Shiloh Line in the Township of Brooke-Alvinston ($1.029 million).

The culvert work on Walpole Island is to receive $102,633.11.

These projects are among the 144 projects nominated to the federal government for funding approval via the Rural and Northern stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program or ICIP last summer.
