Clerk bitten, lottery tickets stolen
Yesterday morning, around 8 a.m. Chatham-Kent police responded to a shoplifting incident at a convenience store in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that a man entered the store and stole a sleeve of lottery tickets.
Police say the clerk was bitten as he attempted to stop the man, who fled the area on foot.
A second man in the store seized the moment by stealing lottery tickets and a handful of lighters, police add.
This man was taken into custody at the scene and upon being searched incident to arrest, was found to be in possession of the stolen lighters and scratch tickets.
Ninos Khoshaba, 46, of Chatham, is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of being in possession of property under $5,000.
Officers located the first man at a nearby motel and he was taken into custody. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of the stolen scratch tickets, oxycodone and a counterfeit 200 Euro bill. Tony Yaqou, 38, of Chatham, is charged with robbery, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, uttering counterfeit money, drug possession and obstruct police for providing a false name
Two stolen vehicles recovered
Just before 5 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious man driving a lawn mower eastbound on Pioneer Line near Wal-Mart. Waiting for him, was a woman standing next to a U-Haul truck in the parking lot. As the man observed the cruiser, he fled on foot.
Through investigation, police determined that the lawn mower was stolen from Home Depot and the U-Haul truck was stolen from Windsor.
A 27-year-old Dover Township woman was arrested and charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.
The man has been identified and a warrant is being requested for his arrest.
Tools stolen
Sometime between Sunday night at 9 p.m. and Monday morning at 7 a.m., someone entered an unlocked garage on Sherwood Court and stole various tools, baseball equipment and a grey Supercycle bike. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $800.

Minor injuries in crash
Yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Forest Street near Elizabeth Street in Chatham.
Minor injuries were reported.
Total damage was estimated at $15,000.
A 63-year-old woman is charged with start from stop not in safety.
