Here’s something you don’t come across everyday while fishing: a hand grenade.
Chatham-Kent police say a citizen was magnet fishing in the Thames River near the new bridge south of Thamesville, and pulled what appeared to be a live granade out of the depths.
Police say photographs of the grenade were taken and sent to the Canadian Military for identification. The Bomb Disposal Unit identified the item as a M36 grenade.
The area was secured until members from Camp Borden attended to retrieve the grenade.
