Chatham-Kent police dealt with a drug runner (OK, a fellow who had drugs and tried to run), the theft of a boat motor in the middle of February, and 214 other calls for service over the past 24 hours.

In the case of the man who ran, police say officers on patrol spotted a man wanted for fraud-related offences about 2 a.m. this morning near the area of King and William streets in Chatham.

The man fled on foot, police say, and tossed something towards a sewer grate as he ran. The officers caught up with the man, and then they retraced their steps to find five hydromorph pills on top of the sewer grate.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with drug possession and breach of probation for being in possession of the unlawful drugs.
