Super Bowl Sunday featured a busy day for Chatham-Kent police.
On the roads, a post-Super Bowl RIDE program took place in Chatham and Blenheim.
Police say officers stopped 450 vehicles, and two motorists received three-day license suspensions, eight were charged for Highway Traffic Act violations and 13 roadside tests were administered.
On top of the RIDE checks, two people face impaired charges following collisions yesterday.
The first took place about 6:30 p.m. in Dresden.
Police say three vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of Lindsley Street and St. George Street in Dresden.
Officers believed one driver was under the influence of alcohol.
An 18-year-old Chatham Township woman is charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Bloomfield Road, police say one vehicle rear-ended another that had slowed down to go around a stopped emergency vehicle.
Officers believe the driver had been drinking.
As a result of tests, a 43-year-old Chatham woman is charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Issues involving vehicles were a common sight recently, as police say a man punched a woman’s windshield yesterday afternoon during an argument.
The two were in a vehicle in Chatham when they began to argue. Police say the woman asked the man to get out of her car, and he then punched her windshield, causing it to crack.
A 35-year-old man is charged with mischief.
Police say last Thursday, an officer on general patrol pulled a vehicle over on St. Clair Street after seeing plastic bottle get chucked out of the passenger’s side window.
As the officer came up to the vehicle, police say he saw, in plain view, cannabis accessible by the driver.
The officer found $4,000 worth of marijuana and hash oil in the vehicle, along with other drug paraphernalia and a quantity of cash, police say.
As a result, the driver, 18, from Windsor, is charged with having cannabis readily accessible and being under 19 distributing cannabis.
The passenger, also 18, and also from Windsor, is charged with littering a highway and being under 19 distributing cannabis.
On Sunday night, police say an argument between a man and a woman turned physical, and the woman suffered a blow to the head with an item.
She had to be taken to hospital for medical attention.
Investigation revealed the man had threatened the woman, police say.
A 54-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
