The Kent County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) has good reason to be proud, after winning three awards recently at a conference in London.

Ontario Ancestors’ 2019 Annual Conference and Family History Show, hosted by The Ontario Genealogical Society, was held at the London Convention Centre, June 21-23.

Kent Branch OGS took home three awards at the conference, Paterson said.

The Kent Branch’s newsletter committee won for the best newsletter award this year.

Cindy Robichaud, chair of the Kent Branch, received a Certificate of Recognition for her dedication to the Kent Branch OGS, the Essex Branch OGS, and the entire Ontario Genealogical Society.

Fred Osmon, a volunteer with the Kent Branch OGS, received the Robert Crawford Community Service Award.

Kent Country branch OGS member Linda Paterson said the “2019 event provided a great opportunity for family historians to get together, learn new stuff, see what’s available in the genealogy marketplace, catch up with old friends and make new ones, all while pursuing the hobby we love and enjoy.”

The “Market Place” was Canada’s largest family history show with corporate sponsors Ancestry, My Heritage, Family Search, National Institute for Genealogical Studies, Findmypast, Family Tree DNA, Family Tree Maker, Global Genealogy and more. Market Place had approximately 50 booths/vendors present to offer assistance with genealogy.

The attendance hit over 500 at the yearly conference, with representatives from 34 OGS branches and special interest groups of the Ontario Genealogical Society across the province.
