Church, tower hit on St. Andrew’s Line

Thieves were busy this week in Dover Township, as someone hit a church and a communication tower recently.

Chatham-Kent police say sometime between Monday and Wednesday, someone forced their way into the New St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on St. Andrew’s Line, causing about $2,000 in damage.

Once inside, the thieves stole a laptop and projector, valued at about $1,200.

Also, sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, someone got into a fenced compound on the same road and cut ground wires to a communication tower, causing about $6,000 in damage. They made off with about $400 in copper wiring.

Anyone with information for either of these crimes is asked to contact Const. Mark Smith at marksm@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 ext. 87162. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
