Hospice volunteer receives Callwood Award

Sabrina Guillotte was recently recognized for her volunteer involvement with Chatham-Kent Hospice by being awarded the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism at the 2018 Hospice Palliative Care Ontario Annual Conference.

Guillotte has been a volunteer with the hospice since 2014. She brings heart and compassion to her role as reception volunteer, and ensures that every visitor is treated with respect, dignity and love.

As a volunteer receptionist, Guillotte greets all visitors with a warm, friendly smile and professional manner.

She embraces any and all educational opportunities to grow both professionally and personally to ensure she has the tools and knowledge to support hospice families.

As a very dedicated and dependable volunteer, she doesn’t hesitate to raise her hand whenever help is required. Her active and reliable contributions make her a valued and important member of the hospice team.

“When I was first told that I had been selected to receive the June Callwood award, I couldn’t believe my ears. It took a minute for the news to sink in and I was crying tears of joy,” Guillotte said in a media release. “This award is very special to me and I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers who selected me. I will treasure this award forever.”

The June Callwood Award was established in 1994 to acknowledge and thank outstanding hospice volunteers throughout Ontario. The award was named in honour of the late June Callwood who was a long-time advocate of hospice, community activist, author and recipient of the Order of Canada.
