A Chatham man has been arrested, accused of renting items from a Chatham store and then selling them to a pawn shop.
On March 23, a man went to Rent-A-Centre on St. Clair St. in Chatham and agreed to a monthly payment as part of an 18-month contract for a 32” Toshiba TV and X-Box One gaming system. When the man failed to make payments, police were contacted and learned the man sold the items to a local pawn shop. Attempts were made to locate him, and a warrant for his arrest was issued for theft by conversion.
Yesterday morning, police located the man on Grand Ave. W. in Chatham and he was arrested. A 22-year-old man of Edgar Street in Chatham was released with conditions pending a future court date of April 18.
