A couple of traffic stops in Chatham on Sunday led to additional charges for drivers.

At about 10:15 a.m., an officer pulled over a black Jeep Liberty for speeding.

He learned the plate tag had expired in January. Further investigation revealed the driver didn’t have valid insurance, police say.

A 31-year-old Dover Centre man is charged with speeding, not having valid insurance, and driving with an expired permit.

Three hours later, an officer pulled over a Chevy Cavalier in Chatham for speeding. This car also had expired plates, again running out in January.

The officer then discovered the driver has a suspended licence, police say.

A 33-year-old Chatham man is charged with speeding, having an expired permit and driving while suspended.
