CK Helping Hands is looking for some assistance from the public on Saturday.
With your help, the organization hopes to load several buses with food around Chatham-Kent.
The Fill the Bus events take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Chatham, Wallaceburg and Tilbury.
Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food donations at grocery stores in the three Chatham-Kent communities. All food collected will remain in the community where it was donated to support local families.
In Chatham, where all items collected will go to Outreach for Hunger, you can donate at the Real Canadian Superstore, Sobeys, both No Frills locations, Giant Tiger and Food Basics.
Meanwhile, in Wallaceburg, donations are being accepted at No Frills.
In Tilbury, Foodland and No Frills are the donation depots.
“Our goal is simple – fill the bus and feed our neighbours,” said organizers with CK Helping Hands in a media release. “When you donate in Wallaceburg, it stays in Wallaceburg. When you donate in Tilbury, it stays in Tilbury. When you donate in Chatham, it stays in Chatham. This is neighbours helping neighbours.”
Community members are asked to bring non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, and other shelf-stable items.
