BIZ VOICE: Kudos to Maple City Homes, TekSavvy

Maple City Homes’ Trevor Mailloux accepts the Rising Star of the Year Award at the ENERQUALITY Building Innovation Forum and Awards recently.

Awards for Maple City Homes

Maple City Homes’ star is rising.

So much so, the Chatham-based house builder has been recognized with the “Rising Star of the Year Award” for demonstrating leadership in constructing high-performance energy efficient homes.

Presented in Toronto at the 2026 ENERQUALITY Building Innovation Forum and Awards March 12, the award is based on homes that meet rigorous ENERQUALITY certification standards.

ENERQUALITY-certified homes must undergo independent performance verification, including blower door testing to measure air tightness and overall building efficiency. According to recent tests carried out by A&J Energy Consultants, Maple City Homes currently holds the top blower door test score in Southern Ontario for the month of February, reflecting the company’s commitment to energy efficient construction.

Maple City Homes partner and co-owner Trevor Mailloux, who accepted the award on behalf of the company, said the acknowledgement is a sign of the team’s commitment.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team and our trade partners who work hard to build home that are both beautiful and highly efficient,” Mailloux said in a media release.

ENERQUALITY CEO Joe Vaccaro, said the company was proud to present Maple City Homes with the Rising Star award, calling the business “an emerging industry leader helping shape the future of high-performance housing.”

TekSavvy Solutions Inc. boosts local impact with a $25,000 donation to United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent.

Tek support for United Way

United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent recently received a $25,000 boost courtesy of  TekSavvy Solutions Inc.

The funds were raised through a combination of TekSavvy’s “Mega Draws” and dedicated employee contributions.

A pillar of support since 2007, TekSavvy Solutions Inc. has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the local community through its annual workplace campaigns, United Way officials said in a media release.

Even with a significant portion of the TekSavvy team working remotely, the campaign’s continued success impresses United Way personnel.

“The consistent generosity of TekSavvy and its employees is inspiring,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO at United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent, in a media release. “Maintaining such a high level of engagement in a hybrid or remote work environment is no small feat. It shows that no matter where the team is physically located, their heart is firmly rooted in making Chatham-Kent a better place for everyone.”

The $25,000 donation will be directed toward local initiatives that address in the Chatham-Kent community.

Housing prices dropped in 2025

According to the Royal LePage House Price Survey and Market Forecast, the aggregate price of a home in Canada decreased 1.5 per cent year over year to $807,200 in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“Despite subdued activity levels, home prices largely held their ground in the final quarter of 2025,” said Phil Soper, president and CEO, Royal LePage, in a release. “Economic uncertainty – driven by trade disputes and broader geopolitical tensions – has weighed on consumer confidence and muted what is typically a more active fall market. Instead of a fall seasonal surge, we saw a quieter close to the year.”

But Soper is confidence heading deeper into 2026.

“Buyers heading into the spring market have a meaningful advantage over last year: lower borrowing costs, stable or lower property prices, and choice. In an era where home inventory is chronically constrained, inventory levels are Goldilocks healthy. Together, these conditions are creating a genuine window of opportunity,” he said.
