In political circles, there can be a lot of mudslinging, but on Oct. 16, four candidates for council could have to deal with some slime.
But it’s all for a good cause: The Merlin Legion.
Ward 1 candidates Mark Authier, Michael Bond, Melissa Harrigan and Tom Askew have all committed to the sliming, said event organizer Lori Parker.
All it takes to have a chance at dumping some slime on one of these good-natured council candidates is $2.
“There are ‘thermometers’ up at the Legion. People have to fill those thermometers up with toonies to get them slimed,” Parker said. “For every toonie, you get a ballot. You put that in the candidate’s box that you want to slime.”
She said there should be a good crowd for slime night, as Fridays are Merlickin’ Chicken (and perch) night at the Legion.
Proceeds from the sliming are earmarked to help the Legion purchase a new walk-in cooler.
The draw for slimers takes place about 5:15 p.m. and the sliming begins at 5:30 p.m.
