You can water your grass whenever you want again, Chatham.
That’s the word from the PUC after it lifted restrictions on every-other-day watering in the wake of filtration problems at the Chatham Water Treatment Plant at the end of August.
“Customers may resume normal outdoor water use, including lawn watering and other non-essential uses of the potable water supply,” municipal officials said in a media release.
The problem arose following the scheduled repair of a leak. The work was completed successfully Aug. 27, but when staff started to slowly fill the transmission line, air was inadvertently introduced into the pipe.
In turn, this slowed the Chatham Water Treatment Plant’s ability to purify the water.
