Chatham-Kent council will soon be receiving regular updates on the progress at the Community Hub.
The move, suggested by Chatham Coun. Alysson Storey, is ostensibly to keep up to date on any cost hiccups or project delays.
“This, from my perspective, is to provide updates on a project of significant public interest,” she said. “Basically, are we on time and on budget?”
Storey initially asked for monthly updates, but West Kent Coun. Melissa Harrigan added a friendly amendment for municipal staff to report quarterly.
“I find that fits the balance of being transparent and not putting too much pressure on staff,” she said.
Edward Soldo, general manager of infrastructure and engineering, said if there is a serious issue between the quarterly reporting, “we would inform council.”
The motion passed 16-0.
