The latest cheque from the OLG for casino hosting is in municipal hands.

The OLG handed over nearly $461,000 to the municipality for the period between Jan. 1 and March 31 for hosting Cascades Casino in Chatham.

Over the last fiscal year, Chatham-Kent received more than $1.8 million in host earnings. Since provincially approved gambling came to the municipality 25 years ago, Chatham-Kent has pocketed nearly $21.4 million.

The payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site, provincial officials said.

“OLG shares revenues with host gaming municipalities to help them invest in local priorities, including community services and infrastructure,” said Trevor Jones, MPP for Chatham-Kent–Leamington. “These payments generated at Cascades Casino Chatham are part of our government’s commitment to support municipalities and to protect what matters most – those critical services families rely on.”
