Through the support of the Thamesville LaSertoma Club, the Chatham-Kent Public Library is levelling up learning at its Thamesville branch.
The club’s donation made it possible for the library to add new Yoto materials, including a Yoto listening station and expanded Yoto collection at the Thamesville branch.
A Yoto is a screen-free, interactive audio player designed for children ages three to 12-plus to enjoy stories, music, and educational content independently and safely.
Access to these audio devices increases accessibility, supports various learning styles, and helps spread the joy of reading in an engaging and inclusive format, according to library officials in a media release.
In addition to the listening station, CKPL has expanded its growing Yoto collection with several new borrowable Yoto titles, including Baking with Yoto; K-Pop Demon Hunters Soundtrack; Wimpy Kid Collection; Harry Potter series titles; Wicked: The Soundtrack; and Phonics: Letters and Sounds
There is also an Express Yoto Mini with preschool stories and songs for borrowing. This is a good fit for families seeking portable, screen-free storytelling and music on the go, officials said.
CKPL introduced Yoto kits and cards last fall, and they quickly became one of its most popular offerings for young readers.
