A middle-aged Chatham man is facing child luring charges in the wake of a Chatham-Kent police investigation.
Members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit opened an investigation in mid-March into the matter. As part of the effort, the officers started focusing on a man police believe was trying to lure a child under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose, using various social media platforms to further his efforts.
Police arrested the suspect March 20, but neglected to notify the media or the public for another seven days.
The victim has been identified and police are working closely with the victim and their family to ensure access to appropriate supports is provided, police say.
The investigation remains ongoing and no additional details will not be provided at this time.
A 44-year-old Chatham man is charged in this child luring investigation.
