LETTER: Stop with the deliveries into Pathways

Editor: Let me start by saying I read the article in The Chatham Voice (“Tiny cabins facility has successes, issues”) about Pathways on the Park and I feel the that it is a good cause and a good use of taxpayer dollars to try and help people get back on their feet.

However the person running it and CK Public Health are wrong for delivering harm-reduction items to Pathway.

If they need to supply the so-called safer way for people to do drugs, then the people that are staying there and need the drug kits should have to go to a clinic or somewhere else to get those kits.

This way, Pathway stays clean of drugs, otherwise you are not helping anyone, and if the people that are getting support from taxpayers don’t want to get clean, then they should not be allowed there.

Another way of looking at it is if you’re allowing the harm-reductions kits to be delivered to Pathway for the addicts, then are you going to use taxpayer dollars to pay for glasses to be delivered for alcoholics?

There should be no drugs or alcohol allowed on the premises at Pathway and if someone wants them, they can go off premises to get it. Plus if someone gets caught with it on the premises at Pathway, they should be removed immediately.

I am not the only citizen or taxpayer in C-K that feels this way and if you are going to just take our hard-earned tax dollars and waste them, then you are going to upset a lot of C-K people.
