Want to see how the Chatham-Kent Police Service handles law and order? Now’s your chance to apply to the upcoming 2026 Citizen’s Police Academy.
Slated to run from March 15 to June 1, the 12-week program offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at local police operations. if selected, individuals will have the opportunity to engage directly with police officers, explore operational units and learn about key aspects of modern police work.
That exploration includes delving into four specialized units, including Major Crime, Traffic, Crime Prevention, Forensics and Critical Incident Response.
The hands-on experience will include facility tours, plus a real-world ride-along with a Community Patrol officer.
According to a CKPS media release, the academy was developed to “strengthen community understanding and foster meaningful dialogue” between residents and the police to promote “transparency, trust and community connection.”
