The Flying J travel centre in Tilbury recently received a slew of upgrades, and area students are benefitting as well.
Pilot Company, owner of the Flying J brand, completed the upgrades and also is donating $10,000 to the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB).
The renovation effort is what Pilot calls a new “curb-to-counter remodel,” featuring a fresh look and enhanced amenities.
“We are proud to serve the Tilbury community with our upgraded travel center,” said Sam Edgmon, vice-president of operations business development at Pilot, in a media release. “Whether you’re fueling up on your daily commute or need a place to refresh and recharge while passing through, we look forward to helping you make the most of every mile.”
Key updates to the travel centre, located at 19325 Essex County Rd. 42 include, a revitalized store interior with a fresh, modern design; a new kitchen to prepare fresh food offerings; a new hot and cold deli area; enhanced beverage coolers for a wide selection of drinks; and refreshed and remodeled restrooms and showers for added comfort.
Through its Miles of Good initiative, Pilot supports the communities it serves by focusing on three key pillars: education, safety and veterans. As part of this ongoing commitment, Pilot’s $10,000 donation to LKDSB will fund Chromebooks for students.
“This contribution will be instrumental in supporting student learning by allowing us to purchase new Chromebooks,” said Paul Beasley, principal at Tilbury Area Public School. “These devices will be used in classrooms across all grades, directly enhancing our students’ access to digital resources and fostering a more dynamic and engaging educational environment.”
“These funds will specifically fund Chromebooks for student use in their math and science classrooms to promote the use of technology and increase student engagement,” said Bernadette Bruette, principal at Tilbury District High School. “We appreciate Pilot for ensuring that even more students have access to technology.”
