A new residence dedicated exclusively to people with Alzheimer’s and dementia is opening in Dresden.
Dubbed Dresden Place – Memory Care, the facility is the first in the region designed to meet the unique needs of memory care residents through therapeutic programming led by dementia-trained staff in an environment created to reduce stress and foster meaningful engagement.
According to a media release from parent company Comfort of Living, the facility will feature sensory games, a fully equipped sensory room, real-time safety monitoring, Montessori based activities such as music therapy, and personalized memory care plans.
As it begins operation, plans are in the works to collaborate with the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent; Ontario Health at Home, Behavioural Supports Ontario clinicians, hospitals and discharge planners, as well as community agencies and senior support programs.
The grand opening for the facility will be held Dec. 19. The day will feature tours, program opportunities and a chance to meet with staff members.
Dresden Place – Memory Care is located at 650 Park St., the former site of Park Street Place seniors’ residence.
