A Chatham teenager faces stunt driving charges after police clocked a vehicle doing nearly triple the speed limit on a local street early Thursday morning.
Officers say the vehicle, headed along St. Clair Street in Chatham, was clocked doing 130 km/h in a posted 50 km/h limit about 12:40 a.m.
The officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but it was several kilometres ahead. Due to the distance, they asked for help from other units in the area.
A coordinated effort led to the successful stop of the vehicle, police say.
The driver, an 18-year-old Chatham woman is charged with stunt driving.
That charge comes with an automatic license suspension and the impounding of her vehicle for 14 days.
