A Chatham man is up on charges after a woman was assaulted in her home, which also appeared to suffer the assailant’s wrath.
Police say they were called Tuesday about 9:10 a.m. over the incident. Officers spoke with the victim, a 32-year-old Chatham woman, were told a man had come to her home and wreaked havoc.
The officers went to the home, found the front doors open, and noted the interior suffered “significant damage” throughout.
Police say the victim also required medical attention.
The accused had previously been released on conditions following a prior incident involving partner violence and was bound by a release order prohibiting contact and proximity to the complainant. The recent incident was found to be in violation of his conditions.
A 45-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault, break and enter to cause mischief and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
