Editor: The snowball of accountability for the council of Chatham-Kent is starting to pick up speed. Very soon it will be so large that members of the council will find themselves in an awkward position of being inside a snowball that wants results along with answers quickly.
Already there is talk throughout the areas of the OPP handling an audit of the Chatham-Kent civic expenses to follow a trail of money that has no visible path or reason.
Perhaps heads will roll or not, as the other day somebody asked me if I would sign a petition for Thamesville to leave Chatham-Kent. I said yes and was told that an official one was being created to sign and a location to sign was in the works.
With water and sewer rates going through the roof in Chatham along with all other taxes and the so-called new city hall to replace an existing one that was built to add more floors for expansion, is of course ludicrous in these hard times of pending tariffs and uncertainty over whether jobs will be lost or not in Canada.
The people of Chatham-Kent are starting to wake up and what they see and hear, and smell is not the country air.

Well said Wayne, and what’s the hold up with the audit? Let’s get it done now before its too late. The numbers that are being thrown around by council and this entire Ludacris idea of spending hundreds of millions of dollars (the last amount I noticed was $110 million now??) that aren’t even there scares the crap out of all of us. transparency is key to success and its also the way to ensure our tax dollars are being used properly. SHOW us exactly where its going. One more thing Id like to mention is the city treasurer making $325000 a year and asking for an assistant that wants to pay $220000 a year is not feasible in my books. If you are making $325K a year now which is an astronomical amount for any person, they should have the absolute highest amount of education to be able to handle the tasks with out assistance! Why are they receiving that kind of money if they can’t? This tells me they aren’t worth what WE are paying them now if they cannot!
