A Kanata man faces drug trafficking and impaired driving charges following a Sept. 2 crash on Highway 401.

Chatham-Kent OPP report they were called about 2 p.m. Monday for a single-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes near Orford Road in East Kent. A vehicle had gone into the centre median.

No serious injuries were reported.

The investigating officer observed signs of impairment from the driver and discovered a quantity of illicit drugs in the individual’s possession, police say.

The driver was arrested and taken for testing, where Chatham-Kent police provided assistance.

As a result, a 46-year-old Kanata man is charged with impaired driving, and possession for the purposes of trafficking for both methamphetamine and opioids.
