Public Health officials say an unlicensed tattoo artist operating in or near Bothwell could have left their customers at risk of contracting a bloodborne infection.’

The concern is for people who have received a tattoo in the past six months from the artist.

If you think you may have been exposed, you are asked to contact CK Public Health at 519-355-1071 ext 2902. as soon as possible, as testing and/or treatment may be recommended. Individuals can also contact their primary health care provider.

Tattoo recipients could be at risk of infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, officials said.

When considering a tattoo service, residents are encouraged to confirm that the business is inspected by the local public health authority and compliant with infection prevention and control legislation and best practices.
